From demo to real money

How to know you're ready, how to start small, and how to scale up safely.

Are you ready?

Move to real money only when, on demo, you have: 30+ journaled trades, followed your rules on 90%+ of them, and a positive result in R. Not before — the market will still be there.

Start smaller than you think

Real money feels different. Start with an amount whose complete loss wouldn't change your life, and risk 0.5% per trade for the first 20 trades. You're training your emotions, not making money yet.

Scaling up

Increase risk to 1% after 20 disciplined trades. Add capital only from money you don't need for at least a year. Never trade with borrowed money or savings earmarked for rent, family or emergencies.

Taxes

In Germany, trading profits are generally taxable (Abgeltungsteuer); losses may be offset within limits. Keep records and talk to a Steuerberater. This is education, not tax advice.

Self-check

Answer the questions, then check your answers. You can retry as often as you like.

1. On demo, Leo has 35 journaled trades, followed his rules on 80% of them, and has a positive result in R. Is he ready for real money according to the lesson?

2. Assume you start real trading with €4,000. How much do you risk per trade in your first 20 trades, following the lesson?

3. Which money is acceptable to use for trading?

Automatic self-check for your own revision. Your answers are checked in your browser and are not seen or assessed by us. It is not an exam and not a qualification.

Your progress

“Complete” only means you marked the lesson as done. It is not a test of your understanding. Progress and notes are saved only in this browser on this device — not in an account.
