Writing your trading plan
A one-page document that defines your markets, setups, risk and routines.
A trading plan is a written contract with yourself. If it isn't written, it isn't a plan — it's a mood.
Template (fill in each line)
- Markets & instruments: e.g. “EUR/USD, GBP/USD, S&P 500 only.”
- Timeframes: “Daily for trend, 4H for entries.”
- Setups I trade: “Trend pullback (Lesson 8), breakout retest (Lesson 9). Nothing else.”
- Risk per trade: “1%. Max 3 open trades. Max daily loss 3%, weekly 6%.”
- Entry rules / exit rules: copy them from the strategy lessons, word for word.
- Trading hours: “Weekday evenings 19:00–21:00 only.”
- Routine: pre-market checklist, post-trade journal, Sunday review.
- Rules for rule breaks: “Break a rule → no trading for the rest of the day.”
Keep it shortOne page. Print it. Put it next to your screen. Re-read before every session.
